The data
Estimates and how they're marked
Which fields are derived rather than published, how to tell, and how much to lean on them.
Size bands carry their source
| Band | Published (registry, linkedin, wikidata) | Estimated (estimated) |
|---|---|---|
| Headcount | about 20% of companies | about 80% |
| Revenue (EUR) | about 0.5% | about 99.5% |
Every headcount and revenue band in a result, a lookup and an export comes with its source, and every
estimated headcount band also with a confidence. You can filter on the source (headcount_source,
revenue_source) as easily as on the band itself.
Revenue is almost always an estimate. Use it to separate a local shop from a mid-sized company, not to quote a turnover.
Always derived
- Category, company type, business model — our classification of the website, with a confidence where the model gives one.
- Summary, products, target customers — written from the website.
- Country when the site does not state an address — inferred from language, domain and content, with a
confidence (
country_conf).
Deciding what to include
If a decision rests on size — “only companies with 50+ people” — filter on the published sources, or on a
high headcount_conf, and look at a sample before you export. If it only needs to rule out one-person
businesses, the estimated bands are good at that.
